How to Actually Find Creative Inspiration

As a creative entrepreneur, it can be challenging to keep up the pace of creating content. Sometimes it’s taxing to find new and innovative ideas for work. When you feel like this, many people might suggest that you take a walk out in nature, get some movement in, rest, etc. That’s all terrific advice, but sometimes those things aren’t enough to pull you out of that feeling of being stuck creatively.

Here’s what I’ve found that has helped me reignite and actually find creative inspiration.

Tips on How to Find Creative Inspiration. My favorite ways that have helped me get inspired again. Blog Post by Social Bean Media.

My Favorite Ways to Find Creative Inspiration

1. Look to Different Industries

Have you ever found yourself doom scrolling through social media and the content is saturated with the same old things or ideas being repeated? I don’t know about you, but sometimes that stale, boring content gets to me.

To shift my mindset, I love looking for inspiration in totally different industries than my own. These are industries that align with some of my passions, but I don’t work directly in them. As a social media manager and brand designer, some of the industries I look to include interior design, photography, gardening, and architecture.

This practice might have you stumbling across things or ideas that you’ve never seen before! In turn, you can incorporate that inspiration into your own creative work.

2. Consider Trying The Artists Way

If you’re feeling creatively blocked or completely stuck, consider reading and following The Artist’s Way. The book is a course by Julia Cameron that guides you through 12 weeks of committing yourself to intentional writing. Through what is referred to as “Morning Pages” and weekly “Artist’s Dates,” you’ll be able to “discover and recover your creative self.”

The idea is to set aside the time and make yourself go through the exercise of writing and reflecting each morning. Regardless of whether you’re feeling creative or in the right mood to write, you commit to the routine.

Since it was first published in 1992, four million copies have been sold. Millions of people in varying industries have been transformed by Julia Cameron’s guidance.

The Artist’s Way might be your new solution to getting unstuck creatively!

3. Reflect on What Made You Light Up as a Child

Think back to when you were a kid. What did you love doing? What kind of activities did you love the most?

I found that by doing those things again now, not only did I have fun, but I found that creative spark and energy again. Some of the things I loved to do as a kid included making collages, finger painting, dancing, baking, Tae Kwon Do, bike riding through our neighborhood, going to the park, and playing tennis.

Revisiting these activities and interests now that I’m older are just as much fun. I’ve found that reconnecting to what you enjoyed as a kid helps break up the monotony and busy routines of everyday life.

The funny thing about where to find creative inspiration is that you can never be too sure where its going to come from or when its going to hit you. These are some ways that I have found to help me break through brain fog and creative blocks to help lighten up my life and work.
